Summary

The Otago Nuggets have again come back from behind to win, taking down the Hawke’s Bay Hawks by 7 points at Pettigrew Green Arena.

In a similar fashion to Thursday’s game against the Rams, the Nuggets had trouble finding their offensive flow in the first quarter and trailed by nine points at the term’s conclusion.

The second and third quarter were back and forth, with the Nuggets slightly edging out the Hawks in the terms to get themselves back in the contest.

The Hawks had control throughout most of the fourth quarter but trailing by four points with 2 minutes to go, the Nuggets flipped a switch.

A big Nikau McCullough three, followed by a Tai Webster two pointer and a massive offensive rebound and put back by Robbie Coman saw the Nuggets up by 5 with 30 seconds remaining.

The Nuggets were able to hold on from here, running away 7-point winners in a result that will have big implications on the standings come regular season end.

Former Nugget Jordan Ngatai was strong for the opposition with 21 points and 3 blocks.

Todd Withers was outstanding, putting on a clinic on both ends of the floor. The forward finished with 23 points, 12 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block.

Michael Harris added 21 points continuing his hot scoring form.

Tai Webster controlled the game with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals.
