#NUGGETS4kidscan CHARITY MATCH ANNOUNCEMENT

1 in 6 Kiwi kids are living in hardship, going without the basics many of us take for granted. This is where charity KidsCan steps in. They are on a mission to provide the essentials to children to help remove the barriers to learning. KidsCan believes education gives children their best chance of a brighter future.

Partnering directly with over 1100 schools and early childhood centres, KidsCan provides food, clothes and health items so children can keep attending school and fully engage in class.

Major partner of the Night ‘n Day Otago Nuggets, NZ Safety Blackwoods have been a major partner of KidsCan for four years, coming into its fifth.

In this time, they have helped provide 16,000 jackets to Kiwi kids as well as providing additional support through fundraising and volunteering in the KidsCan warehouse.

Together with NZ Safety Blackwoods, the Night ‘n Day Otago Nuggets are excited to announce the #nuggets4kidscan Charity Match in partnership with KidsCanNZ.

The charity match will take place this Sunday against the Franklin Bulls. Julie Chapman, CEO and co-founder of KidsCan is delighted by the support the Charity Match will provide.

“The cost-of-living crisis is having a huge impact on children in poverty - and winter is only making that tougher,” she said.

“We're delighted that through our partnership with NZ Safety Blackwoods, Otago Nuggets have chosen to support KidsCan as we face record demand.”

“We have thousands of children waiting for help, and with your support we can help feed them and keep them cosy, so they can focus on learning. Thank you Nuggs Nation fans for caring."

Night ‘n Day Otago Nuggets General Manager Angela Ruske said that being involved in a fundraiser that will help Kiwi kids have a brighter future is incredibly rewarding.

“Being able to make a positive impact in our community is very important to the Nuggets franchise,” she said.

“We are excited to be partnering with NZ Safety Blackwoods to help raise funds for KidsCan.”

Following the completion of the match the warm-up shirts, playing singlets and playing shorts will be up for auction. Angela Ruske encourages Night ‘n Day Otago Nuggets fans to get involved in the auction.

“Funds raised from our charity game on Sunday will help KidsCan provide resources to Kiwi kids that need it the most,” she said.

“We will be auctioning signed playing gear and the match ball, with all proceeds going directly to KidsCan.”

“We encourage our Nuggs Nation fans to join us in this fundraising event by either bidding on our auction items or donating through the KidsCan website.”
